 Defects in progression of cranial ganglion formation in mCOUP-TFI-deficient embryos. Shown are whole-mount immunohistochemistry analyses of embryos using an anti-neurofilament antibody. Dorsal to the left. (Left) Wild-type embryos at E10.5 show well-separated ganglia with few nerve fiber connections between the ganglionic masses. (Right) Null embryos at E10.5 exhibit an isolated neuronal mass as well as a fusion of axons away from the hindbrain. (For details, see Qiu et al., p. 1925.)
