Cover With this issue, Genes & Development marks a decade of publication. The first journal to be published by the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press, Genes & Development's inaugural issue appeared in March of 1987. The cover of this anniversary issue celebrates all of the people who have contributed to the journal during this period as authors, editorial board members, and editors. Forming the numeral 10 are the names of all of the editorial board members of the journal for these first 10 years, as well as all of the journal's editors. The names filling the background of the front cover are the authors whose papers appeared in volume 1 of Genes & Development in 1987. Names appearing on the front and back of the foldout are the authors whose papers appeared in the tenth year--volume 10 in 1996 and the first four issues of volume 11 in 1997. Representative covers from each year of this first decade are also included.
