About the Cover

Cover Figure

Gdf7 signaling is required for the generation of a subset of dorsal commissural neurons. Shown here is an analysis of neuronal patterning in the dorsal spinal cord of an embryonic day 11.5 mouse embryo. Expression of Gdf7 mRNA in roof plate cells is detected by in situ hybridization and shown in red. Superimposed on this image is an immunofluoresence and confocal microscopy analysis of expression of mATH1 protein in neuronal progenitors (blue) and LH2A/LH2B proteins in dorsal commissural neurons (green). Cells expressing both mATH1 and LH2A/LH2B appear light blue. (For details, see Lee et al., p. 3394.)
