Three homeodomain proteins define dorsoventral columns within the Drosophila central nervous system. Shown here is an immunohistochemical analysis of the neuroectoderm of stage 9 Drosophila embryos. Embryos were stained with antibodies to Vnd (ventral; pink-red), Ind (intermediate; brown), and Msh (dorsal; purple-blue). Anterior is up. The background is an enlargement of the inset image.
