Mast cell infiltration during activation of angiogenesis. Shown here is a microscopy image of a whole-mount of lectin-perfused transgenic mouse with dysplastic truncal lesions. Darkly stained mast cells appear to adhere directly to basement membranes surrounding the dermal capillaries in angiogenic dysplasias. (For details, see Coussens et al., p. 1382).
