Drosophila dDP mutants affect amplification and the shutoff of genomic replication. Shown here is stage 10B dDPa2 mutant egg chamber assayed for DNA replication by staining for BrdU incorporation. Genomic replication is occurring synchronously, but inappropriately, in the follicle cells of this egg chamber, which results in larger nuclei as compred to stage 9 nuclei of control animals. In this mutant, ORC2 localization persists inappropriately throughout the follicle cell nucleus (not shown). (For details, see Royzman et al., p. 827)
