About the Cover

Cover Figure

Expression of the forkhead domain protein UNC-130 in the C. elegans embryo. Shown here is an embryo approximately 260 minutes post-fertilization stained with antibodies directed against UNC-130 (red) and the hypodermal cell marker, LIN-26 (green). UNC-130 is expressed in neuronal precursors, including precursors to the AWA and ASG chemosensory neurons. Mutations in unc-130 affect the asymmetric cell division that gives rise to the AWA and ASG neurons. UNC-130 is expressed in additional cell types, and is required for dorso-ventral cell and growth cone migration, embryogenesis, and male tail morphogenesis. (For details, see Sarafi-Reinach and Sengupta, p. 2472 and Nash et al., p. 2486.)
