Microtubule-severing activity is required for C. elegans meiosis. Shown here is a confocal merged image of a female meiotic spindle in metaphase. Tubulin is shown in green and the chromatin is stained with DAPI (blue). MEI-2, a protein with homology to the microtubule-severing protein katanin p80 subunit, is shown in red.
