Drosophila geminin mutant embryos display mitotic defects. Shown here is an immunofluorescence analysis of a stage 11 homozygous Dm geminin mutant embryo using antibodies directed against phospho histone 3 (green) and actin (red). As visualized by the anti-PH3 staining, this mitotic cell contains an anaphase chromosome bridge. Other mitotic and late over-replication defects are also observed in Dm geminin mutant embryos, and are likely the result of inappropriate DNA replication. (For details, see Quinn et al., p. 2741.)
