The human SET domain methyltransferase Pr-Set7 specifically transfers a single methyl group to Lys 20 of Histone 4 in the context of the intact nucleosome. Shown here is a model predicting how Pr-Set7 may interact with the nucleosome. Pr-Set7 is shown in ribbons representation with the conserved SET domain in cyan and the N-flanking domain in magenta, and the model predicts that the interactions with the nucleosome will be mediated by the Set-I domain (blue) and the C-flanking domain (brown). The target histone (H4) on the nucleosome is shown in green and the DNA strands in pale blue and pink.
