Cover MEF2-dependent signaling by Srpk3 is required for normal muscle growth and homeostasis. Mice with a null mutation in Srpk3 develop a central nuclear myopathy specific to type II fibers. Shown here is a cross-section of the tibialis anterior muscle from a Srpk3-null mouse, displaying centronuclear myopathy. The sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin. The final photograph is a graphic overlay of three images: bright-field DIC illumination, bright-field illumination through a 525-nm filter, and fluorescence emission under 535-nm excitation.
