About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover Tectonic is the founding member of a novel family of metazoan proteins, and is an essential regulator of Hedgehog signal transduction in the mouse neural tube. Shown here is an immunofluorescence analysis of the developing neural tube of a mouse embryo mutant for both Tectonic and Rab23, using antibodies directed against Pax3 (green) and Pax6 (red). Tectonic acts downstream of Rab23 and is essential both for the appropriate response to high levels of Hedgehog signals and for maintaining the pathway in the off state in the absence of Hedgehog. (For details, see Reiter and Skarnes, p. 22.)
