Cover txr1, a previously uncharacterized gene, regulates taxane-induced apoptosis in human cancer cells. Shown here are Hela cells expressing a Txr1-green fluorescent protein (Txr1-GFP) fusion protein. Nuclei were stained with DAPI (blue). Txr1-GFP is predominantly localized to the nucleus, consistent with its role as a transcriptional regulator of thrombospondin-1, a widely studied anti-angiogenic and proapoptotic protein.
