Cover RAS pathway activation rapidly induces embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS) development in zebrafish. Shown here is the repeated image of a 21-d-old transgenic zebrafish expressing green fluorescent protein (GFP) in mature muscle and Discosoma red fluorescent protein (dsRED2) in RMS tumors. The zebrafish overexpresses oncogenic kRASG12D in undifferentiated skeletal muscle compartments. Beginning at 10 d of life, transgenic zebrafish develop tumors, and by 21 d prominent RMS tumors can be observed. (For details, see Langenau et al., p. 1382.)
