About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover Whole-genome chromatin immunoprecipitation coupled with microarray (ChIP-chip) analysis of dorsoventral patterning in Drosophila embryos. Shown in the foreground is an in situ hybridization analysis of a wild-type Drosophila embryo, using fluorescent probes that detect transcripts encoded by the Dorsal target genes sim (red), snail (uniform green staining), eve (green striped pattern), and rhomboid (blue). Shown in the background are spots from ChIP-chip microarray assays. The results reveal that the dorsoventral patterning system regulates a surprisingly large number of target genes, including those involved in segmentation. (For details, see Zeitlinger et al., p. 385, and related paper by Sandmann et al., p. 436.)
