
Cover Drosophila p55, a homolog of mammalian RbAp48/46 and a predicted WD40 repeat protein, binds to a histone H4 peptide. Shown here is the crystal structure of p55 recognizing the first helix of histone H4 (red) via a binding pocket located on the side of its β-propeller structure (yellow). The histone fold of H4 must be altered to allow p55 binding. Furthermore, the first helix of histone H4 (red) is buried in the nucleosome (gray). (For details, see Song et al., p. 1313.)
