Tenure-Track Investigator Positions, The Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC)
The Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC) of the Université de Montréal invites applications for tenure-track investigator positions. Successful candidates will develop and lead independent research projects complementary to IRIC’s existing immunology and cancer initiatives. They will also teach/supervise graduate and undergraduate students. These recruitments are part of an ongoing expansion of IRIC’s systems biology-based, interdisciplinary immunology and cancer research program.

IRIC offers an outstanding research environment, as well as state-of-the-art tools and technologies including core bioinformatics, chemical biology (chemical and RNAi screens), genomics, histopathology, proteomics, nuclear magnetic resonance, biophysics and transgenesis. Current model organisms are: mouse, yeast (C. albicans, S. cerevisiae), C. elegans, Drosophila, human. Topics of interest include signalling and cell cycle, stem cell biology and genetics, lymphocyte development, antigen processing and presentation, bioinformatics and proteomics. Applicants must have an excellent publication record demonstrating the potential for developing an independent research program. A complete dossier will include a letter of application, a curriculum vitæ, a statement outlining your current research program and long-term research goals, and the names/contact information of at least three referees. Please send these documents by email, attention IRIC Faculty Search Committee, c/o Dr Sylvain Meloche, to: suzanne.legault{at}umontreal.ca

ABOUT IRIC
Dedicated to immunology and cancer research, IRIC is led by an outstanding group of scientists from Canada, Europe and the United States and engages in ambitious cross-disciplinary collaborations to tackle some of the most important obstacles to human health we face today. IRIC opened its doors in spring 2005 and it is expected to double in size over the coming years, bringing together some 40 research teams by the end of the decade.
Postdoctoral Position, University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center
A postdoctoral position funded by NIH is available immediately in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center. A successful candidate will join a research team examining the molecular mechanisms associated with responses of vascular and cancer cells to hypoxia. The project will focus on interactions between PKC isozymes and MAP kinase phosphatases and will utilize molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry and transgenic mice. Strong background and experience in signal transduction, molecular/cellular biology and characterization of knock-out mice are highly desirable. The position requires a PhD degree. Salary is commensurable with experience. Send curriculum vitae, research statement and the names of three references to: Dr. Mita Das (Mita.Das{at}uchsc.edu); Department of Pediatrics, Box B-131; University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center; 4200 E. 9th Avenue; Denver, CO 80262.
Director, Maine Institute for Human Genetics and Health
The Maine Institute for Human Genetics and Health (MIHGH), a private nonprofit research institution located in Brewer, Maine, seeks a founding Director to launch and manage a biomedical research program with an exciting future in translational research focused on common chronic diseases. MIHGH, a subsidiary of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems (EMHS), was recently established as an independent biomedical research institute in collaboration with the University of Maine (UMaine) and The Jackson Laboratory (Jackson). This is an unparalleled opportunity for an accomplished physician-scientist or biomedical research scientist with vision and entrepreneurial spirit to leverage EMHS’s 30-year history in human genetics. MIHGH’s research will be integrated and aligned with that of the basic genetics research team at Jackson and that of the faculty and researchers at UMaine to profoundly impact the conduct of science, the practice of medicine, the health of Maine’s populace, and the regional economy.

Reporting to the MIHGH board, the Director will be responsible for establishing the Institute’s initial research focus; recruiting and building the scientific staff; developing the administrative infrastructure to support the staff and mission of the Institute; attracting a diverse stream of new resources to sustain growth; leveraging strategic partnerships and relationships with the collaborating institutions and other potential partners; realizing the translational potential of the research agenda; and effectively stewarding the substantial dedicated resources.

Requires a senior doctoral level professional (MD, MD/PhD, or PhD) with a distinguished and active record of biomedical research and scholarship related to common chronic diseases and proven ability to build a self-sustaining and productive research program. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary research and the ability to make linkages between science and clinical applications.

Interested individuals should send curriculum vitae with cover letter to, or contact: Sarah Herman, Managing Associate, Isaacson, Miller Inc., 334 Boylston St., Suite 500, Boston, MA 02116, E-mail: 3146{at}imsearch.com. (Electronic submission of credentials strongly encouraged.)
